In September 2010 Frank Hilhorst, president of Progressive Copnsulting Inc., spoke at the Progress Exchange. In this presentation he covered a number of migration strategies for upgrading a Client Server application to a multitiered Web 2.0 application with an emphasis on the implementation of layering. In the presentation he showed how you could refactor yoiu existing application so that both the old and new UI could be supported by exactly the same server side code.

The Cloud/RIA performance race

On March 18 2011 Frank Hilhorst, the president of Progressive Consulting, gave this presentation at the Bravepoint Virtual Interchange. In this presentation Frank went over the results of a benchmark testing project where a number RIA technologies (SILVERLIGHT, OpenLaszlo etc.) were tested in the cloud using an AMAZON cloud computer. Various approaches for connecting to the PROGRESS back end were explored and tested.
